Latest (December 2009) DEEWR Leading Indicator of Employment

This monthly Indicator anticipates movements in the growth cycle of employment. It does this through the use of a composite index of four weighted series (ANZ Newspaper Job Advertisements, Dun and Bradstreet Employment Expectations, the Westpac Melbourne Institute Leading Indicator of Economic Activity and the Consumer Sentiment Index) statistically ascertained to lead employment growth over the last two decades.

The results for December 2009 are available on the Monthly Leading Indicator.

Small Area Labour Markets for the March quarter 2009 was released on 6 November 2009. The publication presents estimates of the number of unemployed persons and unemployment rates for approximately 1400 Statistical Local Areas across Australia.
